GRACEFUL PERFORMANCE

Teen trouper's tale, musical merriment on lunch menu

HOT SPRINGS -- Kodie Brown said her three years as a member of the performing arts troupe at The Muses Project have been a blessing. The 16-year-old was speaking to members and guests of the project's Graces Guild at their annual luncheon June 24 at the Muses Cultural Arts Center.

After lunch and socializing, guests were invited into the auditorium of the former church to hear a program of music from the Muses' latest concert "Broadway Cabaret." Musical numbers were interspersed with the artists sharing their experiences as troupe members.

Brown, the youngest member of the troupe, explained how other members have helped her overcome shyness and become more confident.

"I've seen myself grow so much in the past few years," she said.

The luncheon was the ninth in a row for the guild, which supports The Muses Project, founded by Deleen Davidson. Davidson told attendees she wanted the audience to walk away from The Muses' performances "fulfilled, refreshed and inspired."

The nonprofit plans to present Mozart's Don Giovanni at the center Sept. 17-18.
