A Fort Smith man was sentenced to 15 years in prison after pleading guilty to conspiracy to commit rape and stalking a child on the Internet, authorities said in a release.

According to court records, Eddie Paul Davis, 45, pleaded guilty to both counts in Faulkner County district court Tuesday. The charges stemmed from separate arrests, one on Dec. 11, 2015, and the other March 21.

This past December, Faulkner County deputies arrested Davis on conspiracy to commit rape after investigators used an undercover profile to communicate with Davis online, the sheriff’s office said in a release. The sting operation began Nov. 23, and Davis agreed to meet investigators in Conway on Dec. 11, under the impression that he would have sex with a female minor. He was arrested in Conway.

In March, Davis was arrested on the stalking charge in Conway. Investigators looked into an online post Feb. 22, the release said, and communication between the investigators and Davis moved to a private email.

The investigators recognized Davis’ email from the December arrest. Using undercover accounts, the release said investigators communicated with Davis from Feb. 22 to March 21.

According to a previous story from Arkansas Online, Davis sent inappropriate photos of himself to investigators and said he would supply alcohol and cigarettes to who he thought was a female minor in exchange for sex.
