Fayetteville police look for shooter involved in Monday night shooting

FAYETTEVILLE -- Police are looking for a person they believe shot an 18-year-old man late Monday night, said Sgt. Craig Stout, police spokesman.

Eduardo Cedillo was shot in the stomach and taken to a hospital about 11:15 p.m. Monday, according to a police dispatch report.

Stout said police think they know who the shooter was, but he did not release the suspect's name.

Neighbors called police Monday after hearing a gunshot at 2862 N. Gregg Ave., Apt. 4, the report shows. Witnesses said the shooter left the apartment complex before police arrived, according to the report.

Police found a spent shell casing at the scene, but the gun has not been recovered, Stout said.

Stout said he didn't know how serious Cedillo's wound was. The bullet went completely through, leaving a small hole, the report shows.

Cedillo wasn't listed at Washington Regional Medical Center in Fayetteville or Northwest Medical Center-Springdale on Tuesday afternoon, spokeswomen said.

The case remains under investigation, Stout said.
