Police: Springdale man left injured wife alone for hours after altercation

SPRINGDALE — A Springdale man fractured his wife's skull and jawbone in an altercation early Sunday morning and left her alone with her injuries for six hours before seeking medical help, according to a probable cause affidavit for his arrest.

Greely Phillips, 43, was arrested Monday in connection with first-degree domestic battery.

The altercation took place at 22236 Butler Ford Road early Sunday morning, according to the affidavit.

Julie Phillips had a fractured jawbone and skull, several lacerations and possible damage to her left eye, according to affidavit. Her injuries were "possibly caused by being run over by a tractor and physical altercation," the affidavit stated.

Kelly Cantrell, spokeswoman for the Washington County Sheriff's Office, said investigators are still trying to determine exactly what happened, and further details about the incident were not available Thursday afternoon.

Greely Phillips left his wife at their home with her injuries for about six hours before returning and calling for medical help, according to the affidavit.

He was being held Thursday in the Washington County jail in lieu of a $15,000 bond.
