A single-vehicle crash in Chicot County killed one man Wednesday, while a separate crash earlier this month in Clay County killed two others, according to preliminary reports from the Arkansas State Police.

The weather was cloudy and the road was wet Wednesday morning when a car driven by a 66-year-old man crashed in Eudora, according to a report.

Eddie Purvis of Oak Grove, La., died Wednesday after his car crossed the centerline while heading south on Arkansas 159, police said. He over-corrected, and the 2004 Dodge Stratus came to a stop on the side of the road in trees, police said.

Police reported Wednesday that a single-vehicle crash in Clay County earlier this month killed two people, according to a report.

About 2:27 p.m. July 16, Tracy Tippitt, 43, of Piggott and Christopher Smith, 25, of Rector were traveling east on Clay Road when the driver lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a bridge, police said.

Police could not tell who was the driver and who was the passenger, according to the report.
