Filing: Man broke jaw, skull of wife

SPRINGDALE -- A Springdale man is accused of fracturing his wife's skull and jawbone in a fight early July 24 and leaving her alone for six hours before seeking medical help, according to a probable-cause affidavit for his arrest.

Greely Phillips, 43, was arrested Monday on a charge of first-degree domestic battery.

The altercation took place at 22236 Butler Ford Road, according to the affidavit.

Julie Phillips had a fractured jawbone and skull, several lacerations and possible damage to her left eye, according to the affidavit. Her injuries were "possibly caused by being run over by a tractor and physical altercation," the affidavit stated.

Kelly Cantrell, spokesman for the Washington County sheriff's office, said investigators are still trying to determine the facts in the case.

Greely Phillips was being held Saturday in the Washington County jail in lieu of a $15,000 bond.
