Pedestrian, cyclist, driver die in separate accidents

Two people died in traffic crashes in Arkansas this week, according to preliminary reports released Friday by the Arkansas State Police. Police also provided a report of a man who died in March after being struck by a vehicle.

A Jonesboro man died after a truck crashed into his bicycle Wednesday in Craighead County, according to a state police report.

Daniel McDonald, 42, was riding a bicycle west on Craighead County Road 766 about 5:15 p.m. when a Chevrolet truck hit him from behind, state police said. There were no other injuries reported.

A 51-year-old man died in a three-vehicle crash on U.S. 40 in Monroe County on Monday, according to a state police report.

Roland Clark of Ward was driving in the right lane on westbound Interstate 40 when the Kenworth truck in front of him slowed down because of a stalled vehicle in the lane, state police said. Police said Clark crashed into the Kenworth truck and then struck a sport-utility vehicle that was driving in the left lane. Clark's vehicle came to a stop in both lanes and caught on fire, state police said.

He was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the report.

State police also reported that a 20-year-old pedestrian died almost two weeks after he was hit by a vehicle in March while crossing a road, according to a police report.

On March 11, Brandon Williams of Forrest City was crossing Harrisburg Road in Craighead County when a 2014 Jeep driven by Jason Card of Jonesboro struck him, state police said. Williams died of his injuries March 23 at the Regional One Medical Center in Memphis, state police said.

State police reported the death Friday. Spokesman Bill Sadler said the agency posts preliminary fatal crash reports when it receives them from law enforcement agencies.

The weather was clear and the roads were dry at the time of all three crashes reported Friday, state police said.
