EARLIER: FBI offering $20,000 reward for capture of Arkansas prison escapee
The FBI is now offering a $20,000 reward for the capture of a convicted murderer who escaped from an Arkansas prison earlier this week, a spokesman said.
Lloyd Jones, 40, escaped from work detail about noon Monday from the East Arkansas Regional Correctional Facility in Brickeys while assigned to a construction/demolition crew, the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette previously reported.
He was serving a 60-year sentence for the February 2012 death of 16-year-old Angela Allen, who was strangled, stuffed into a barrel and buried in a shallow grave.
As of Wednesday afternoon, Jones’ whereabouts remained unknown, and a search was ongoing, according to Arkansas Department of Correction spokesman Solomon Graves.
Officials have declined to provide specifics on the search area, only saying that authorities are looking “around the unit and the escape location.”
