Wednesday recruiting tidbits: Hogs to host official vistors

Three junior college prospects are expected to arrive later tonight for their official visits.

Tight end Jeremy Patton, offensive lineman D'Marcus Hayes and Hog receiver commitment Jonathan Nance will start their official visits Thursday morning.

Patton, 6-6, 243, 4.59 seconds in the 40 yard dash, of Arizona Western College in Yuma has more than 25 scholarship offers from schools like Arkansas, Alabama, Auburn, Louisville, Arizona State, Arizona, Nebraska and South Carolina. He has visited Louisville and Auburn.

Hayes, 6-6, 315 pounds of Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College has offers from Arkansas, Florida, Auburn, Louisville, Mississippi State, South Florida, Iowa State and others. He has officially visited Auburn.

Nance, 6-1,181, 4.44 seconds in the 40 yard dash, of Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College chose the Hogs over scholarship offers from Colorado State and Troy while also drawing interest from Florida, Georgia, Arizona State, Iowa State, Memphis and numerous others.

Hog linebacker target Thomas Johnston, 6-2, 220, 4.78 seconds in the 40-yard dash, of Spanish Fort (Ala.) High School will arrive in Fayetteville late Thursday to visit the Hogs Friday and Saturday.

He has about 20 scholarship offers from schools like Arkansas, Auburn, Clemson, Oregon, Iowa, LSU, Louisville and North Carolina State.

Johnston and his father will be accompanied by a former Razorback cornerback Dean Peavey, who played defensive back for the Hogs from 1990-1994. Peavey and Johnston's father are good friends.

Highly recruited tight end Kedrick James, 6-6, 247, 4.81, of Waco (Texas) La Vega said he's trying to visit during Arkansas' three-day camp June 19-21.

Athlete Lecitus Smith, 6-4, 260 pounds of Fitzgerald. Ga., said he's talking to Arkansas about visiting in July. He has offers from Arkansas, Virginia Tech, Oklahoma State, Louisville, North Carolina State and others. He could play tight end or defensive line.

Linebacker Addison Gumbs, 6-4, 215 of Hayward, (Calif.) Stellar Prep said it's unlikely he'll visit Arkansas again before he makes his college decision. He and his parents visited Fayetteville in early April.

Highly recruited running back Devan Barrett, 6-1, 190 of Tampa, (Fla.) Catholic said he's talking to his father about a visit to Arkansas. He recently talked to running backs coach Reggie Mitchell about a possible trip.

Arkansas' ability to send players at his position to the NFL is a big part of his interest. He has 41 offers from schools like Arkansas, Alabama, Auburn, Florida, Florida State, Ohio State and others. ESPN rates him the 23 athlete and No. 286 overall prospect in the nation.

Junior quarterback Allan Walters, 6-2, 205, 4.79, of Paramus Catholic and his parents will arrive on Monday for Arkansas' camp and is expected to leave sometime the next day. He has scholarship offers from Arkansas, Alabama, Missouri, Ole Miss, Michigan, Mississippi State, Rutgers, Louisville and others.

Arkansas guard target Jamal Johnson, 6-4, 180 of Birmingham, (Ala.) Spain Park is taking part in the NBPA top 100 camp at the University of Virginia through Sunday. He has other offers from schools like Alabama, Auburn, Florida, Georgia and others. He said the Hogs offered him last summer.

Pulaski Academy safety-linebacker Hayden Henry, the younger brother of Arkansas and San Diego tight end Hunter Henry, received an offer from Missouri State on Tuesday. He also has offers from Navy, Air Force, OBU and Harding.
