Some choice

"Attack shifts presidential rivals' focus," said the headline in the paper's early editions. Under it was a story that had to have been assembled from the wire services even before it was entirely clear to all who was responsible for this latest act of radical Islamic terrorism.

It's a simple, accurate, almost self-evident term, Radical Islamic Terrorism, but Hillary Clinton for the longest declined to use it, until it became so apparent in Orlando over the weekend. Not so Donald Trump, who turns out to have been right this time. How explain that? It's simple. As country folk say, even a blind hog finds an acorn now and then.

Meanwhile, by dawn's early light, the Democratic nominee-presumptive was presuming to lay the blame for the massacre on everybody and everything except the guilty--from haters of the sexually unorthodox to gun owners. She'll reveal national secrets at the drop of an email but stop playing identity politics? Never.

At this early point in the presidential race, Americans would seem to have a choice between a loudmouth so unmannered he'll tell the bald truth and a candidate so mannered that she seldom if ever does. That's not a choice, it's a national embarrassment.
