Martha George, 37, died at 1:15 p.m. Friday at Regional One Burn Unit in Memphis, said Capt. Scott Adams, commander of the Blytheville Police Department's Criminal Investigation Division.

Kordarro Woodard, 25, of Blytheville is charged with attempted murder, domestic battery and violation of a no-contact order after police said he set fire to George. Adams said Woodard was George's ex-boyfriend.

Police said Woodard poured gasoline on George and set her on fire Monday as she was preparing to take a bath in her East Cherry Street home. Adams said George jumped into the bathtub but suffered burns over 80 percent of her body.

Adams said George told police who burned her but lapsed into a coma and was listed in critical condition until she died.

Woodard was being held in the Mississippi County jail in Luxora in lieu of a $150,000 bond. Adams said he will talk with prosecutors about amending charges against Woodard after George's death.
