Little Rock police are investigating after a man was fatally shot Monday afternoon.

Officers responded about 3:18 p.m. to 9700 Collie Drive, where they found a man lying in the front yard under a tree.

The man, described as black and his mid 30s, was taken to an area hospital where he died, according to police spokesman Lt. Steve McClanahan.

No information on a shooter was available. Officers cordoned off Collie Drive as investigators searched the area for evidence and residents watched from outside their homes.

It's the 16th homicide of the year in Little Rock. The investigation is ongoing.
