CONCORD — There will be a fireworks show at dusk at Concord City Park. The event will feature games and entertainment, as well as concessions that include barbecue, hot dogs, drinks, etc. For more information, call (870) 668-3798.

Arkansas Fallen Heroes Traveling Memorial

BEEBE — The Arkansas Fallen Heroes Traveling Memorial will be on display Friday through July 8 at the intersection of Dewitt Henry Drive and ASU-Beebe Boulevard, beside the Advanced Technology and Allied Health Building at Arkansas State University-Beebe. The memorial was founded by Rob Hopper of Wynne as a tribute to his son, who died Jan. 26, 2005, in western Iraq after his helicopter crashed. The memorial is also a tribute to all Arkansas natives who have fallen in the line of duty. Displaying the memorial is one of several ways the Arkansas Run for the Fallen organization honors heroes. The SAME Cafe

SEARCY — The SAME Cafe will be open from 4-5:30 p.m. at the West Side Church of Christ, 709 W. Arch St. The SAME Cafe is open to anyone in the community who would like a free warm meal.

Ice Cream Social

POCAHONTAS — Join park staff in the Visitor Center at Davidsonville Historic State Park from 1-2 p.m., and beat the summer heat by exploring the history of a delicious frozen dessert. Learn how ice cream was made over 200 years ago, and help make some to enjoy with friends and family. Admission is free. The park is a 15-minute drive south of Pocahontas on Arkansas 166. Concord Parade and Fun Day

CONCORD — The Concord Parade and Fun Day will begin with a parade at 10:30 a.m. Entries will line up at the Concord Gym parking lot, and the parade route will go from the school to the city park, with all activities in the park. A concessions stand will serve barbecue, hot dogs, drinks and ice cream. The day will also feature a giant water slide, music by the Gaylon Sandefur Band, door prizes, and games for young and old. Ranch Rodeo Family Celebration

EL PASO — The CrossRoads Cowboy Church, 3071 Arkansas 5, will present the Ranch Rodeo Family Celebration at 1 p.m. Rodeo events will include trailer loading, penning, mugging, branding and bronc riding. There will be Mutton Bustin for kids ages 6 and younger, who will need to sign up at 12:30 p.m. A cake and pie auction will take place at 5:30 p.m., a free barbecue dinner will be served at 6:30 p.m., and fireworks will start at dark. Fireworks Extravaganza

HEBER SPRINGS — The Heber Springs Area Chamber of Commerce will present one of the larger fireworks displays in Arkansas over Greers Ferry Lake. All are invited to view the Fireworks Extravaganza on the shores of Sandy Beach in Heber Springs or by boat. There will be kids’ activities and food vendors, and live music will start at 7 p.m., followed by the fireworks display at 9:30 p.m., accompanied by choreographed music on KFFB 106.1 FM. Pangburn All School Reunion

PANGBURN— The annual Pangburn All School Reunion will take place from 2-4 p.m. at the school’s Performing Arts Center. This year’s host is the class of 1966, which will celebrate its 50-year reunion. Homemade Lemonade Demonstration

POCAHONTAS — Join park interpreter Geoffrey from 1-2 p.m. at Davidsonville Historic State Park to learn how people 200 years ago beat the heat without the luxuries of today. Learn all about the art of homemade lemonade making and how drinks were kept cool in Davidsonville’s time. Have a glass of ice-cold lemonade; then explore the visitor center and other park exhibits. Fourth of July Activities

PANGBURN — A professional fireworks show at dark will cap off daylong Fourth of July activities in Pangburn. Events will begin with a political reception at 9 a.m. at City Hall, followed by the Pangburn Auto Parts 400 Toilet Race at 9:45 a.m., the downtown parade at 10 a.m., and opening ceremonies at City Park at 11 a.m., with guest speakers and parade awards. Entertainment will kick off at noon with the New Dixie Swing Band, followed by the Horseshoe-Pitching Contest at 1 p.m., The Hannahs at 4 p.m., The Boyd Creek Band at 5 p.m., free barbecue and all the trimmings at 6 p.m., and Livin Proof at 7:30 p.m. Attendees are asked to bring lawn chairs.

Twelfth Night

LESLIE — Shakespeare is returning to the Ozark Heritage Arts Center in Leslie with a family-friendly one-hour adaptation of Twelfth Night by the Arkansas Shakespeare Theatre at 7 p.m. Admission is $6. Adult Introductory Acting Class

SEARCY — Performing Arts Center on the Square will offer a four-week adult introductory acting class from 6-8 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays, starting July 5, at Center on the Square, 219 W. FAIRFIELD BAY — The Third Thursday Farmers Market will be open from 9-11 a.m. July 21, Aug. 18, Sept. 15 and Oct. 20 in the Fairfield Bay Community Education Center Courtyard, 130 Village Lane. The market features plants, produce and herbs. Setup is at 8 a.m., and there are no vendor fees.

Ozarka College Registration Days

MELBOURNE — Ozarka College will host registration days for new and returning students who need to complete their fall enrollment. Attendees can take placement tests, meet with an adviser, register for classes, get assistance in applying for financial aid and meet with other staff from Ozarka College. Registration days will be from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. July 7 in Ash Flat, and from 3-7 p.m. July 19 in Melbourne. School-Bus Driver Training

BATESVILLE — The University of Arkansas Community College at Batesville will offer a training course for those who want to pursue a commercial driver’s license with a school-bus endorsement. The in-class training will be from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. July 12 and 13, with a written test to be taken July 14 or 15 at the Independence County Library, 368 E. Main St. The driving test will be given Aug. 2, 3 and 4. The total cost for training, materials and the driving-course test is $210. Scavenger Hunts

POCAHONTAS — Join the staff at Davidsonville Historic State Park from 9-11 a.m. July 16 for a fun session of exploration and adventure. Match clues to their locations, take your own picture as proof, and learn a few things about Davidsonville along the way. Scavenger hunts will start and end at the Visitor Center, and two hunts for different age groups will be offered. Prizes will be given for the first completion, the fastest completion and for participation. Admission is free. The park is a 15-minute drive south of Pocahontas on Arkansas 166. Clinton Gospel Fest

CLINTON — The Clinton Gospel Fest, a fundraiser for the Van Buren County Literacy Council, will take place from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. July 16 in the Clinton High School Cafeteria. Admission is free for this come-and-go event that will feature Hallelujah Harmony, a male gospel quartet from Cabot, as well as five other groups. Introduction to Art

MOUNTAIN VIEW — Ozarka College in Mountain View will offer an Introduction to Art course through Continuing Education on Mondays and Wednesdays, July 18 to Aug. 3. Taught by Leah Balowski, the course will present a hands-on approach to the fundamental media, techniques and concepts of making art. Students may choose from two sessions: 9 a.m. to noon or 1-4 p.m. The tuition is $25, or $20 for participants 60 and older. Kids Summer Art Workshops

BATESVILLE — The Batesville Area Arts Council will offer Kids Summer Art Workshops on July 25-29 at the BAAC Gallery on Main. Kindergartners through second-graders will meet from 10:30 a.m. to noon, and third- through sixth-graders will meet from 1-2:30 p.m. The cost is $50. Students will learn a variety of art techniques with instructor Leia Parks, and their work will be exhibited at the gallery Aug. 2-20, with a gallery reception from 5:30-6:30 p.m. Aug. 5.
