Career Expo and Hiring Fair

VILONIA — The Central Arkansas Planning and Development District/Arkansas Workforce Center, the city of Vilonia and the Vilonia Chamber of Commerce will host a Career Expo and Hiring Fair from 9 a.m. to noon at First Assembly of God, 851 U.S. 64B. The event, for students and dislocated workers in Vilonia and surrounding areas, is designed to provide options for those who may want specific skill sets that will lead to self-sustaining wages. Educators, employers, service providers and apprenticeship opportunities will be available to prospective job seekers.

Master Gardeners Informational Meeting

RUSSELLVILLE — The Pope County Master Gardeners invite anyone who is interested in becoming a Master Gardener to a meeting at 7 p.m. at the Pope County Extension Office, 105 W. Art History Symposium

CONWAY — The 26th annual Arkansas College Art History Symposium, showcasing scholarly art historical research from college students across the state, will be held both days at the University of Central Arkansas. At 7:30 p.m. today, Lawrence Waldron will present a session, Primitive Whim: How an Accident at the Museum Became Curriculum at the College, in Room 143 of McCastlain Hall. On Friday, Room 143 will open at 9 a.m. and stay open for students and the public to hear student presentations until Waldron presents his lecture Zoomorphs, Ritual and Regionalism in Ancient Caribbean Art at 3 p.m. All events are free and open to the public. Summer Adult Softball Registration Deadline

RUSSELLVILLE — The deadline is 5 p.m. Friday to register teams for the Russellville Recreation and Parks Department’s Summer Adult Softball League. PostSecret: The Show

CONWAY — PostSecret: The Show, a live version of the original online community art project, will be presented at 7:30 p.m. in the University of Central Arkansas’ Donald W. Reynolds Performance Hall. Blank postcards will be available for audience members to write down their secrets, which may be used in the performance. The show contains adult themes, so children will not be admitted. Great Depression Lunch & Learn

MORRILTON — As part of its year-long centennial celebration, the Conway County Library, 101 W. Church St., will offer a Great Depression-themed Lunch & Learn at noon. Kristi Davis, regional development campaign manager for the Heart of Arkansas United Way, will speak about the impact the Great Depression of the 1930s had on people and families in Arkansas and across the country, and about the history of the United Way. Launchapalooza

CONWAY — To conclude the University of Central Arkansas’ annual ArkaText Literary Festival, the award-winning Toad Suck Review will hold its sixth Launchapalooza at 7 p.m. at the Lantern Theater, 1021 Van Ronkle St. The free event is open to the public but may include adult language. Launchapalooza will include readings from Lea Graham, J. Bradley Minnick, Joe Trimble, Scott Lewis and Guy Choate. Arbor Day Celebration

MORRILTON — The city of Morrilton’s annual Arbor Day celebration will begin at 10:30 a.m. at the T.C. Vaughan Senior Adult Center. Textile Art Exhibit

FAIRFIELD BAY — Textile artist Alice Chambers has an exhibit at the Fairfield Bay Library, 369 Dave Creek Parkway. “My fabric art includes all the things I love — all types of fabric, fibers, colorful dyes, embroidery, stamping, fabric paints, embellishments and wonderful found objects,” Chambers said. Her exhibit may be seen during library hours: 1-4 p.m. Monday, Tuesday and Thursday; 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday and Friday; and 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday. Art Exhibit and Reception

RUSSELLVILLE — The 2016 Small Works on Paper touring exhibition will be on display through March 30 in the Norman Hall Art Gallery at Arkansas Tech University. The exhibit, sponsored by the Arkansas Arts Council, features works by 37 artists from across the state, including David Rackley and Rachel Trusty of Russellville, Melissa Cowper-Smith of Morrilton and Jason McCann of Maumelle. Teens Create

MORRILTON — Teens Create meets from noon to 1 p.m. every Saturday at the Conway County Library, 101 W. Church St. Creative teens will gather to make a photo puzzle of the library. Catfish Supper

ST. VINCENT — Knights of Columbus Council 10908 in St. Vincent, 9 miles north of Morrilton on Arkansas 95, will have its 23rd annual catfish supper from 5-8 p.m. March 18. Domestic Violence Workshop

CONWAY — Rediscovering Our Strengths, a free domestic violence workshop, will take place from 9 a.m. to noon March 18 at the Brewer-Hegeman Conference Center at the University of Central Arkansas. Smoke on the Mountain Auditions

CONWAY — The Conway Community Arts Association will conduct auditions for Smoke on the Mountain, by Alan Bailey and Connie Ray, at 7 p.m. March 21 and 22 at The Lantern Theatre, 1021 Van Ronkle St. in Conway. Four-Hands Piano Concert

CONWAY — The Hendrix College Department of Music will host a four-hands piano-duo concert by Paolo Alderighi and Stephanie Trick at 7:30 p.m. March 29 in Reves Recital Hall. Alderighi and Trick started to work together in 2011 on a four-hands piano project dedicated to classic jazz and preparing arrangements of songs from the swing era, as well as ragtime and blues repertoire. PETIT JEAN MOUNTAIN — As part of its year-long centennial celebration, the Conway County Library will present nationally bestselling author Gregg Hurwitz at 6:30 p.m. April 16 at the Winthrop Rockefeller Institute on Petit Jean Mountain. Hurwitz will discuss his works, most notably his most recent, Orphan X, which is currently in discussion as a feature film, with Hurwitz as screenwriter. Refreshments will be provided. Golf Tournament

FAIRFIELD BAY — The Fairfield Bay Library Friends Inc.’s eighth annual Tee It Up for Literacy Golf Tournament will take place April 16 at the Indian Hills Golf Course. The event is a fundraiser for the Fairfield Bay Library. Registration and sign-in for the four-person scramble will begin at 8 a.m., with a cost of $55 per person and two flights (men’s and mixed). A lunch of hot dogs and burgers will be included. Prizes will be given for closest to the hole and the longest drive. The entry deadline is April 14.
