A retired Jonesboro police officer was fatally injured Saturday when the moped he was riding collided with an SUV, the police department said.
Former department Capt. Rohnny McDaniel, 73, was injured in the accident with a Chevrolet Tahoe. He was pronounced dead at Regional One Health in Memphis early Sunday, police said.
The crash occurred in an area where Parker Road intersects with a southbound off-ramp from Interstate 555 as well as Woodsprings Road, according to a news release from police.
The driver of the Tahoe, who was not injured, had a routine blood drawing following the crash, which is under investigation, police said.
