Men's tennis advances in NCAA Tourney

Arkansas’ men’s tennis team opened NCAA Tournament play with a 4-2 victory over Wichita State Saturday at the Stillwater (Okla.) Regional.

The No. 19 Razorbacks (20-8) advanced to play No. 16 Oklahoma State (19-7), which beat Bryant 4-0 Saturday. The Razorbacks and host Cowboys play at 1 p.m. today, with the winner advancing to the 16-team NCAA Championships held in Tulsa.

Arkansas won its first NCAA Tournament match since 2006, when the Razorbacks beat Michigan 4-1 and lost to host Ohio State 4-0.

The Razorbacks’ got singles victories against Wichita State from Mike Redlicki, Santiago Munoz and Adam Sanjurjjo. Munoz clinched the match by rallying to beat Jocelyn Devilliers 5-7, 6-3, 6-4 at No. 3 singles.

Arkansas earned the doubles’ point with victories from the teams of Redlicki and Giammarco Micolnai and Salazar and Johan den Toom.
