The Arkansas Symphony will offer Something "Blue" in an Intimate Neighborhood Concert, 7 p.m. today at Christ Episcopal Church, 509 Scott St., Little Rock. 'Gun Show' kickoff

The awards ceremony and opening reception for "The Gun Show," an art competition and exhibition sponsored by DRAWL Southern Contemporary Art and Oxford American, will take place at 6 p.m. Friday at Cache Restaurant, President Clinton and River Market avenues, Little Rock. Chad Alligood, a curator at the Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art in Bentonville, is juror for the exhibition, which focuses on the visual impact guns have on Southerners, on display Saturday-June 17 at DRAWL Southern Contemporary Art, 5208 Kavanaugh Blvd., Little Rock. Arts in the Park

Arkansas Delta native and Willie Nelson tribute performer Marion Deaton will headline this year's Arts in the Park, 6 p.m. Saturday, 12 E. Chestnut St., on Marianna's downtown square. The 17-piece Stardust Big Band's monthly dance performance will take place at 3 p.m. Sunday in the Crystal Ballroom of the Arlington Resort Hotel, 239 Central Ave., Hot Springs. AUDITIONS

Christmas Story kids

The Arkansas Repertory Theatre will hold auditions, by appointment, for children ages 8-14 for seven roles in Philip Grecian's A Christmas Story on Monday. Auditions will consist of reading portions of the script, available in advance, along with a list and description of available roles (five boys, two girls), at the website, therep.org. All auditioners must also be available for Tuesday-evening callbacks.

Rehearsals begin Nov. 8; production dates are Dec. 2-24, with a possible extension to Jan. 1. Parents or guardians may set up an audition appointment for their child by emailing Education Associate Katherine Tanner, at ktanner@therep.org; put "Christmas Story Young Artist Audition Request" as the subject line.
