Little Rock School District superintendent to speak to League of Women Voters of Pulaski County

Little Rock School District Superintendent Mike Poore is the guest speaker at today's quarterly meeting of the the League of Women Voters of Pulaski County.

The meeting, which is open to members of the public, will be from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. in the library/media center at Hall High School, 6700 H Street. That is a change from the organization's usual meeting site at the Fletcher Library.

Poore is expected to discuss the state-controlled district's progress toward reinstatement of a local school board, and the future of programs such as gifted education, special education and arts education at a time when the district is facing the loss of more than $37 million in state desegregation funding.

Time will be reserved for questions at the end of Poore's remarks.
