RB Weh-Weh to have surgery, miss season

Arkansas State running back Armond Weh-Weh will have season-ending surgery to repair a torn anterior cruciate ligament suffered during Saturday’s loss to Auburn, Red Wolves Coach Blake Anderson said Monday.

Weh-Weh, who got to ASU this summer from Scottsdale (Ariz.) Community College, suffered the injury in the first quarter of the 51-14 loss and never had a carry. He rushed for 29 yards on five carries with a touchdown in the season-opening loss to Toledo.

Without Weh-Weh, Anderson is hoping to get junior Johnston White back for Friday’s game at Utah State. White started the season opener but missed the Auburn game with a pulled hamstring. Anderson said if White can’t go, most of the work will fall on sophomore Warren Wand, who had 16 rushes for 37 yards against Auburn.
