Ambulance stolen from Arkansas hospital, involved in crash, police say

A LifeNet ambulance stolen Tuesday while parked at a hospital in Hot Springs was recovered around 10 minutes later, according to police.

In a statement, the Hot Springs Police Department said the ambulance was reported stolen at 1:14 p.m. from National Park Medical Center, 1910 Malvern Ave.

The emergency response vehicle driven by an unknown suspect then traveled through a traffic signal at Malvern and Hollywood avenues, where it struck and damaged another vehicle, authorities said. No injuries were reported.

Around 1:25 p.m., police located the ambulance at the intersection of Church and Cottage streets. There, the ambulance was abandoned and the suspect fled, the statement reads.

A person of interest had been identified, but no arrests had been made as of Tuesday afternoon, according to police.
