The department wrote on Twitter shortly after 10:15 p.m. that officers were responding to the fatal accident, which occurred in the 6200 block of Colonel Glenn Road.

Lt. Steve McClanahan said the victim, who he described as a homeless man, was hit by two vehicles while crossing the street.

The first vehicle stopped after hitting the man, authorities said, but the second kept driving. McClanahan described the second vehicle as an older black sedan with white rims that was last seen heading east.
