Solid pitching, 3 runs in 4th, give Travs lift

A three-run, fourth inning lifted the Arkansas Travelers to a 4-1 victory over the San Antonio Missions on Sunday before an announced crowd of 2,112 at Wolff Stadium in San Antonio.

Chuck Taylor and Kyle Waldrop led off the fourth inning with walks in a 0-0 game.

Ryan Casteel doubled to left-center field to score Taylor and advance to Waldrop to third to make it 1-0. Marcus Littlewood grounded out to second to score Waldrop to make it 2-0.

Chantz Mack walked, and Jay Baum grounded into a force out to score Casteel to make it 3-0.

The Travelers made it 4-0 in the seventh inning when Ian Miller singled, stole second and third.

Taylor walked, Waldrop struck out, and Casteel singled to right to score Taylor.

The Missions answered with one in the bottom of the eighth when Stephen McGee doubled to left-center field.

Luis Urias reached on a fielding error by the third baseman Baum after Auston Bousfield flied out, which allowed McGee to score to make it 4-1.

Zac Curtis relieved Blake Perry and got Noah Peiro Jr. to ground out into a force play to end the inning.

Lindsey Caughel (1-1) got the victory, allowing 4 hits in 6 scoreless innings with 3 strikeouts and 1 walk. Curtis picked up his first save.

Taylor and Casteel led the Travelers with two hits. Urias and McGee had two hits for the Missions.

Kyle Lloyd (2-1) took the loss, allowing 3 runs on 2 hits in 4 innings with 4 walks and 4 strikeouts.
