FOR A JOB WELL DONE

Leadership builders share their Love with Jim Dailey

Dozens of well-wishers dropped by Heifer Village on April 18 to visit with Jim Dailey as he was honored with Leadership Greater Little Rock's Judy Love Distinguished Leadership Award.

Attendees gathered for drinks in the exhibit area before moving into the meeting room and helping themselves to a buffet of heavy hors d'oeuvres.

J.T. Ferstl, chairman of the Leadership Greater Little Rock advisory board, reviewed the criteria for recipients of the award, introduced Dailey as "the father of leadership," and presented him his award -- a large boxed compass.

Dailey, former Little Rock mayor and the first to be elected by popular vote, was also the first chairman of what was originally known as the Greater Little Rock Leadership Institute. The program is an initiate of the Little Rock Regional Chamber of Commerce, whose mission, in part, is to develop community leaders.

During his acceptance remarks, Dailey reminisced about his work getting Leadership Greater Little Rock started. He praised Love, who was once Leadership Greater Little Rock's executive director, then shared how he values teamwork in leadership. "Leadership, to me, is something that can only be achieved and accomplished if we have a team," he said.
