• Catcher Stuart Levy (Arkansas State/Benton) was placed on the disabled list by the Delmarva Shorebirds (A Orioles) on Aug. 17 after being hit in the head with a bat during a 3-2 loss to the Greensboro Grasshoppers (A Marlins) on Aug. 16. "The ball got fouled off and Stuart lunged to the left, right in the path of the batter's follow through," Shorebirds director of broadcasting Will DeBoer said. "He headed to the clubhouse after that and his knees buckled on the way to the tunnel." Pitcher Ethan Clark (Greenwood) started that game for Greensboro, allowing 1 earned run on 3 hits with 5 walks and 6 strikeouts over 5⅔ innings.
• Outfielder Matty Johnson (Arkansas Tech/Watson Chapel) was released by the Lincoln Saltdogs of the independent American Association on Tuesday. Johnson hit .225 with 4 home runs and 15 RBI in 50 games for the Saltdogs. He last played for Lincoln on Aug. 16, going 1 for 5 with 1 run scored and 1 strikeout in a 4-1 victory over the Cleburne Railroaders.
• Right-handed pitcher Jacob Lee (Arkansas State/Jonesboro) was placed on the disabled list Thursday by the Akron RubberDucks (AA Indians) with a right calf strain. Team officials said they didn't have any details on when or how the injury occurred, but he last pitched Aug. 16 in an 8-7 loss against the Trenton Thunder (AA Yankees). Lee lasted just two-thirds of an inning, allowing 3 earned runs on 3 hits to the 5 batters he faced.
• Right-handed pitcher David Owen (Arkansas State) was placed on the disabled list Aug. 16 by the San Jose Giants (A Giants) with an undisclosed injury. Owen last pitched on Aug. 15, giving up 1 walk, 1 balk and 2 flyouts to the 3 batters he faced in his only inning of work.
