Where I live: I proudly live in west Little Rock in Walnut Valley with my husband, John Wilkerson, a lawyer with the Arkansas Municipal League, and our three children — Razik Lennon, Amila Marseille and Merah Bronte — and our beloved beagle George Orwell. The neighborhood is extremely convenient to everything, very diverse and we love it here.
Occupation: By education and degree, I’m a lawyer, but I practice frosting cakes as a pastry chef more than I practice law. I’ve loved to cook ever since I was a little girl and am self-taught. I read so many cookbooks, watched so many cooking shows and watched my family members cook for years that it became innate to put together meals and flavors. My favorite savory things to cook are roasts or braised meats and handmade pasta. For desserts, I love making creme brulee and chocolate cake.
My favorite space is: My kitchen.
Why? Like most homes, it’s the heartbeat of the home. I love teaching our children family recipes and cooking techniques. I love opening my cabinets and seeing the different dishes I’ve accidentally accumulated because we share food with friends and family so often. On a side note: If anyone has seen my large Pyrex with a gray lid, please let me know ASAP.
If I could make one change to improve this space, I would: I would make it bigger!
