Stolen pass keeps UALR at bay in road game

Chris Galbreath stole a pass as time expired, allowing Sam Houston State to escape with a 57-55 victory over the University of Arkansas at Little Rock on Friday night in Huntsville, Texas.

The Trojans, who trailed 57-49 with 2:06 left, closed to 57-55 thanks to a jumper by Ben Marcus and two by Andre Jones, the last one coming with 1:11 left.

However, the Trojans were turned away. Jones missed a jumper with 20 seconds left that Galbreath rebounded. After John Dewey III missed the front end of a one-and-one with 9.6 seconds left, Oliver Black got the rebound and the Trojans had one last chance. Galbreath broke up a pass inside to seal the victory.

The Trojans led 37-31 with 16:10 remaining after Damir Hadzic made a three-pointer, but the Bearkats scored 9 consecutive points to take a 40-37 lead. After UALR's Cameron Corcoran made a three-pointer with 12:17 left to tie the game at 40-40, Sam Houston State used another 9-0 run to take the lead for good.

Corcoran led the Trojans with 11 points while making 3 of 7 three-pointers. Jones and Anthony Black each had 10.

Galbreath led the Bearkats with 22 points and nine rebounds. Dewey had 11 points.

Sam Houston State dominated at the foul line, making 10 of 12 free throws, while UALR made 3 of 5.
