College institute seeks Scalia name

MOUNTAIN HOME -- An Arkansas State University at Mountain Home institute wants to bear the name of a deceased U.S. Supreme Court justice.

The two-year school wants to name its Criminal Justice Institute after Antonin Scalia, who died Feb. 13, 2016. The request will be considered by the Arkansas State University System's board of trustees in Mountain Home today.

Scalia visited the community college in April 2015, giving a lecture at a public event and talking to political science and history students. He was appointed to the the high court by then-President Ronald Reagan in 1986 and served until his death.
