Bentonville work set to close lanes

Work on the Bella Vista Bypass will require lane closures on North Walton Boulevard in Bentonville beginning Monday and lasting through March 10, the Arkansas Highway and Transportation Department said.

Crews placing asphalt associated with the construction of a roundabout at Interstate 49 will require the northbound and southbound lanes of North Walton, also called U.S. 71B, to be alternately closed just north of the I-49 overpass to just south of the overpass from 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily on weekdays, weather permitting.

Motorists should expect traffic queuing as only one lane of traffic will remain open during the daily closures, the department said. Lanes will be restored to two-way operations after 6 p.m., the department said.

Lanes on I-49 and U.S. 71 won't be affected.

The work is part of a project to construct 6 miles of the bypass, also called Arkansas 549/Future Interstate 49, from U.S. 71B to Arkansas 72 South. The project involves just two lanes of what will eventually be a four-lane route, the department said.
