Starlight Gala let big boys, girls have fun to help out the younger set

BENTON -- Supporters of the Boys and Girls Club of Bryant were invited to "Boogie Oogie Oogie" on Dec. 31 at the Starlight Gala. The sixth-annual signature fundraiser with the theme "Saturday Night Fever" was held at the Benton Event Center.

A silent auction began the evening. A dinner buffet featured an array of food including crab claws, boiled shrimp, a potato bar, carved roast beef and various sides. Desserts included banana pudding and salted caramel cheesecake. Guests also could roast marshmallows and assemble gooey graham cracker and chocolate treats at a s'mores bar.

For fun, attendees could have their photos made or enjoy a blast from the past and try hula hooping or playing the game Twister.

Former Razorbacks football color commentator and NFL player Keith Jackson and KATV reporter Stacey Spivey served as program co-hosts. Pat Baker, owner of Baker's Fine Jewelry in Bryant, was named a Hometown Hero. Baker also was the honorary event chairman.

Afterward, guests were invited to the lighted disco dance floor to enjoy music from Mayday by Midnight.

Over 400 guests helped raise around $55,000 for the Boys and Girls Club.
