An officer approached Smith's vehicle Friday when it was stopped at the intersection of Coopers Farm Road and Sienna Drive.

Smith seemed drunk, had marijuana and paraphernalia, and was placed under arrest, according to a Saturday statement from the Centerton Police Department.

The officer placed Smith in the rear of a patrol car, where he slipped his handcuffs under his legs to the front of his body and got out of car. He ran west, barefoot, on Halleck Coach Road.
