Scare 'em muchy

Reading the front-page story in Arkansas' Newspaper Friday, the one featuring the new White House communications director, left us speechless.

Almost.

It was surprising that the White House's communications director might not know that calling a reporter is the best way to get his words published. And one had better be clear about what is off the record and what is not before opening one's mouth.

It was surprising that he'd use language and phrases that would've made LBJ blush.

It was surprising that he'd say he'd want to kill people in the White House who leaked to the press.

It was surprising that he'd ask a reporter to disclose his sources. Then, when refused, call the reporter unpatriotic.

It was surprising that he'd mock the president's chief of staff and predict his firing.

But what was most surprising about Anthony Scaramucci's comments was this:

He wasn't immediately fired.

As of this writing, Mr. Scaramucci is still schmoozing with the press, mirrored sunglasses and all, and still holds the title of White House Communications Director. Apparently with the president's approval.

Something tells us Reagan would've handled this differently.
