St. Mark's hosts 'Divine Therapy' program

St. Mark's Episcopal Church, 1000 N. Mississippi St., Little Rock, will host a one-day retreat on divine therapy.

The program, "An Invitation to Heal: Divine Therapy," will begin at 8:30 a.m. March 11 in the Parish Hall and conclude at 3 p.m.

The program will be led by Steven A. Standiford, a psychotherapist and teacher of the contemplative practice of centering prayer. Standiford will discuss the role of the unconscious and how divine therapy can be used in a healing way.

The Rev. Danny Schieffler, rector of the church, said the retreat will offer a day of "spiritual and emotional peace."

"We'll be practicing the contemplative tradition of Christianity which is not that widely known, including several sets of centering prayer," Schieffler said. "And he'll be doing some teachings about the fact that God actually heals emotional wounds of a lifetime at the level of the unconscious."

Cost is $25 and includes lunch. Registration is available by calling (501) 225-4203 or online at st-marks.com. Deadline to register is Wednesday.
