Woman dies in fire at Arkansas home

El DORADO -- Two women were pulled from their burning home Tuesday night, but one died shortly after being transported to a hospital, authorities said.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Nancy Rogers of El Dorado died while being treated for injuries at the Medical Center of South Arkansas. Her mother, Carol Rogers, also was hospitalized.

Firefighters responded about 6 p.m. to a house alarm at 413 N. Georgia St., according to the El Dorado Fire Department. Firefighters found the house engulfed upon arrival, with flames shooting through the front door and windows of the house.

The house sustained damage to the front porch, the attic, and the living and dining rooms.

Firefighters contained the fire by 7:56 p.m., the department said.

A dog was found dead in the house.
