Arkansas Index adds 2.06, ends at 341.24

The Arkansas Index, a price-weighted index that tracks the largest public companies based in the state, climbed 2.06 to 341.24 Wednesday.

"Equity indexes closed mixed but energy stocks outperformed Wednesday following a report by the Energy Information Administration that crude oil inventories rose less than expected," said Leon Lants, managing director at Stephens Inc. in Little Rock.

Total volume for the index was 20.8 million shares.

The index was developed by Bloomberg News and the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette with a base value of 100 as of Dec. 30, 1997.
