Proud of our leader

The sharks are in a feeding frenzy! Some supposedly American editorialists, columnists, broadcasters and letter-writers seem deliriously happy that our nation's very new president has storms brewing around him. I would like to mention some good things they are careful to overlook, that I and millions of others who voted for President Trump are thankful for.

He stands with Israel. He is pro-life and has given us another conservative Supreme Court justice. He is not a sicko who congratulates sodomites for their sex sins against God, nor does he celebrate the depravity of same-sex marriage with rainbow lights flooding the White House. He has slammed the door shut on transgender restrooms. He supports and is increasing our fantastic United States armed forces and does not hesitate to turn them loose against world terrorists. He has taken the shackles off America's law enforcement officers and border patrols, enabling them to do their jobs.

His name is not that of Bill or Hillary Clinton, which disgrace our national airport, nor is it Barack Obama who, in my opinion, disgraced America.

I feel very comfortable with our very unpredictable president. Whatever he may do, mistakes, verbal gaffes and all, I believe he loves America. He didn't need this job. This job needed him. I doubt that he will ever speak the D.C. language and he will always be barbecued by left-wing hatemongers, sex perverts and abortionists. There are a lot of editors, columnists, broadcasters and letter-writers who I suspect may belong in one or more of those categories, or it may be that they just cannot get over the rug having been jerked out from under their pathetic, unregenerate Democratic Party by someone who doesn't even know how to play the political game.

Swamp being drained

I hope none of you are shocked that the establishment media and the entrenched political bloodsuckers are throwing the kitchen sink at Trump. You know that you are on track when the leeches start screaming.

We elected him for this very reason. The establishment has totally lost our respect. This includes the FBI. Why do we still obey the law and pay our taxes? Because we are better people.

I do not profess to admire Trump as a human being. Those of you that know your Bible know that God often uses the most unlikely individuals to achieve his will. This is our last chance. Please be patient.

Example of arrogance

The Democrat-Gazette's publication of the votes of the Arkansas congressional delegation is always interesting. Our Republican senators recently voted to allow shooting bears from airplanes, killing them while they are hibernating, and gassing wolves and their pups in their dens. This vote removed previous legislation forbidding such slaughter of wildlife.

Alaska is not exactly a livestock state, so the removal of wildlife is not a crucial or even important issue for their job creators. I believe it boils down to a fundamental blood-letting in the name of sport, a casual dismissal of the sanctity of all living gifts, and an example of the condescension, callousness, and arrogance exhibited toward the unprotected--a painful metaphor for Americans under the new regime.

Repugnant.

To liberate ourselves

The Trump administration has become like a dead fish that both shines and stinks. I believe we must move back midterm to a president and a Congress that can govern our country. We must liberate ourselves from Citizens United, that provides us with the best government that money can buy, and gerrymandering that makes it impossible for some good contenders to win.

Ask yourselves: Isn't Trump proving to be just what he had proven himself to be for a lifetime? Are we incapable of judging genuine character?

Have respect, please

Why do all the people on the roads seem to think they're the only ones out there?

You could be driving 80 miles an hour and still have someone riding your bumper because you're where they think they need to be, and they're probably on their cell phone the whole time. Or you get the people who turn left out of the right lane, or suddenly zip in front of you without checking if there's enough room to do that and then they stop to turn off, never once using their signal. Last I checked, I'm not psychic, so I have no idea what you're thinking, or even if you're thinking.

Folks, it's Memorial Day weekend. If you're not going to have respect for the people who've fought and died for us, at least have some respect for those of us who pay our taxes and insurance and really would like to live to see the next day.

It's really deplorable

It seems to me that a "deplorable" old man can be forgiven for being cautious. What I find hard to believe is how gullible so many so-called Americans can be when it comes to "fake news." It seems almost everything Howell Medders mentions in his highly liberal letter is repetition from upset and liberal journalists.

What does he have against rich folks? How many people get rich from being stupid? How rich are the Obamas after their stint in the White House? How rich was JFK or FDR? And how about the poor Clintons? And please lighten up over Russia--you're assuming something that is still being investigated. So stop being a hatemonger.

P.S.: A great sentence in a letter next to yours: "Trump's presidency is Obama's legacy."
