More than $1,300 in cash, safe stolen in break-in at west Little Rock restaurant, police say

More than $1,300 in cash and a safe were stolen from a west Little Rock Tex-Mex restaurant early Tuesday, police said.

Officers responded around 7:50 a.m. to Moe’s Southwest Grill at 12312 Chenal Parkway to investigate a a burglary that happened earlier that morning, according to a Little Rock Police Department report.

As officers arrived, six Moe’s employees were inside the business preparing food and walking throughout, compromising the crime scene, the report noted.

An eatery manager said that when an employee came in for work that morning, she found the lights would not turn on.

Video surveillance showed that the fast-casual eatery’s power went out around 2 a.m. and came back on around 7:30 a.m.

A master power switch had been turned off on the building’s east side, effectively shutting off video recording during that time span, an officer discovered.

The alarm company told the restaurant’s manager that the alarm, which typically alerts when the power goes out, had not been set Monday night.

Authorities found a broken glass door and an apparent mark on an office door “in the shape and size of a crowbar.”

Listed as stolen from the Moe’s restaurant were $1,307 in cash and a digital safe valued at $800.

No suspects were named, and no arrests had been made at the time of the report.
