Where I live: I live in the Kingwood neighborhood, just west of Cammack Village with my wife, Alisha, daughter, Cadence, our great Danes (micro-ponies) Apollo and Cloudy, and Hammy the Hamster.

Occupation: I’m a bicycle racer and mechanic. I race on Team USA’s Paralympic track cycling team and I work at The Meteor Bike Shop and Cafe in Stifft Station. My goal is to go for the gold at the Tokyo Paralympic Games in 2020.

My favorite space is: Our kitchen.

Why? My wife and I completely ripped the whole thing down to the studs, designed what we wanted, then put it back together. After my accident I learned to navigate this space in my wheelchair. As a new amputee, preparing a meal for yourself is huge step. As an athlete, nutrition is just as important as all the physical training and my kitchen is my laboratory for creating tasty food that helps me ride faster.

If I could make one change to improve this space, I would: I would spend more time here with family and friends. Making pizza with my daughter in paper chef’s hats or learning to cook a meal with a friend from another culture are memories I will cherish forever.
