Body recovered at Arkansas park; woman's death investigated as suicide, sheriff's office says

Authorities say they have recovered a woman's body found at an Arkansas park.

Kelly Cantrell, a spokeswoman for the Washington County sheriff’s office, said the body was found Monday at Devil’s Den State Park after deputies received a call about a fall from Yellow Rock Overlook around 6:15 p.m..

The Washington County coroner told the Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette that it was notified about the death shortly after 8:15 p.m.

Because the terrain was difficult to access, authorities initially struggled to reach the body. It was recovered about 11 p.m., authorities said. The woman has been identified as a 28-year-old Springdale resident.

Cantrell said a preliminary investigation indicates the death was a suicide, but the sheriff's office is awaiting a report from the state Crime Lab for confirmation.
