Passenger killed, both drivers hurt in collision between pickup, SUV on I-30

A 75-year-old Benton woman was killed and two people were hurt Monday in a collision on Interstate 30 in Hot Spring County, authorities said.

Around 11:45 a.m., a westbound 2015 Dodge Ram hit a 2013 Honda Pilot while changing lanes around the 83 mile marker, which is near Friendship, according to an Arkansas State Police report. Police said both vehicles ran off the highway, with the Pilot flipping into trees and the Ram striking a tree.

Darla S. Kelley, a passenger in the Pilot, suffered fatal injuries. Both drivers were listed as being hurt, though the report didn't detail the extent of their injuries. At least one of them was taken to UAMS Medical Center in Little Rock.

Conditions at the time were said to be cloudy and dry.

The death is one of 377 in traffic crashes on Arkansas roads so far this year, according to preliminary figures.
