Arkansas man accused of trying to stab Wal-Mart employee

A 28-year-old Arkansas man is accused of attempting to stab at a Wal-Mart employee while shoplifting from the store last month.

Gregory Lynn Hamilton of Hot Springs was arrested Monday on charges including aggravated robbery and theft of property, the Hot Springs Sentinel-Record reported Wednesday.

Hamilton pulled a knife and attempted to lunge at the employee's midsection on Sept. 19 at a Wal-Mart on Albert Pike Road in Hot Springs after the worker saw Hamilton conceal DVDs and clothing in a backpack and try to leave the business, according to a probable cause affidavit cited by the newspaper.

Investigators distributed photos of the robber, and Hamilton was later identified by police as the suspect.

He remained in the Garland County jail on Wednesday with bail not yet set. An Oct. 17 court date is scheduled.
