Director picked for doctoral program

FAYETTEVILLE -- Sherry Muir has been appointed to lead an occupational therapy doctoral program being started by the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville and the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences, Little Rock.

Muir, who began her duties Sept. 1, will prepare the program for accreditation, according to a statement from UA-Fayetteville. The university is expecting to admit students starting in 2019.

Muir has been an occupational therapist since 1991 and previously taught at Saint Louis University. She earned a doctorate in public policy and administration from Walden University and a master's degree in occupational therapy from Texas Woman's University. Muir also has a bachelor's degree from the University of Missouri.

Muir earns $150,000, with 51 percent of her salary paid by UA-Fayetteville and 49 percent paid by UAMS, said Steve Voorhies, a UA-Fayetteville spokesman.
