Homemade bomb found on Arkansas bridge; investigation ongoing

4:25 P.M. UPDATE:

A sheriff's major in White County said Tuesday that a helium tank found on a rural bridge was "pretty harmless."

Maj. Clayton Edwards said the container found Monday on a Conway Road bridge between Judsonia and Bald Knob was empty except for some fireworks accelerant.

Edwards said the sheriff's office was investigating the device but said his own opinion was that no one intended harm with it.

Arkansas State Police spokesman Bill Sadler said his agency's only role in the case was to render the device safe and said the sheriff's office was handling the investigation.
