Arrests have been made in separate North Little Rock shootings, including one that injured a man the day before his birthday, authorities say.

The North Little Rock Police Department wrote on Twitter on Wednesday afternoon that Torrance Wayne Moore, 33, and Lamel Lamont Yancy, 18, had been taken into custody.

Yancy was a suspect in the Oct. 8 gunfire that injured Michael Ray Starks Jr., 22.

Starks, who was struck the day before his birthday, told officers that he began talking with the teen and another man and encouraged them to stay away from Yancy's mother, who he said was a bad influence on them, the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette previously reported.

“Then Yancy said ‘F--- this s---’ and he then pulled out a revolver and began to shoot,” according to a police report.

Starks reported that he was only hit once but the shooter fired four times. He told police he tried to grab the gun from the 18-year-old but was not successful.

Moore was tied to a shooting Sept. 11 in which Robert Battles, 32, was injured.

According to a report, Battles said that he tried to break up a fight between his brother-in-law and Moore at an address in the 2900 block of East Second Street. Moore left but returned less than 10 minutes later with a gun and shot him, the 32-year-old told officers.

The report states that he had multiple gunshot wounds and was taken to a nearby hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

According to jail records, both Moore and Yancy were being held on first-degree battery charges on Wednesday evening. No bail has been set.
