An Arkansas man was found guilty in the rape of a 14-year-old girl Wednesday, the Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette reported.
The verdict came a day after the girl reportedly testified that John Virgil Britt, 34, had sexually abused her. She told authorities that Britt raped while she was sleeping on a couch, according to court documents cited by the newspaper.
The 34-year-old also testified during the trial, according to the newspaper. He denied having sexual contact with the girl.
The Cave Springs resident was given a 40-year prison sentence and will be eligible for parole after 28 years, the Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette reported. He must also register as sex offender.
