LR teen arrested after chase, crash

A Little Rock teen was arrested Wednesday afternoon after he fled police in a stolen vehicle, crashed it and ran away, authorities said.

William Lee Woodley, 18, of Little Rock was arrested around 3:45 p.m. west of Boyle Park in the 3200 block of Wynne Street, according to a police report.

Authorities said Woodley tried to flee from officers in a vehicle reported to have been stolen, and later crashed it in Union Park at 36th and Potter streets. He then ran from the scene while carrying a red backpack, police said.

Woodley was spotted on Wynne Street about four blocks away toting a backpack, police said. A pistol was found inside the bag, the report said.

Woodley faces two counts of theft by receiving, fleeing and carrying a prohibited weapon.

He was booked into the Pulaski County jail, where he remained Thursday morning with no bail set.

Don't shoot, begs victim with no cash

A Little Rock man said he begged a gunman not to shoot after he offered up an iPhone but no cash, police said.

A 24-year-old Little Rock man told officers that about 10:30 p.m. Tuesday, he pulled into a parking space near his apartment in the 700 block of Sherman Street, according to a police report.

When he got out of his vehicle, a stranger approached him, pulled out a gun and reportedly said, "Give me everything you got."

The 24-year-old said he handed over his iPhone.

The gunman became upset when he realized the victim didn't have any money, and the victim begged him not to shoot, he told police.

The stranger ran away, and the victim drove to a relative's house before calling police, he said.

No suspect was named on the report.

Said to point gun at group, man arrested

A Little Rock man is accused of pointing a handgun at five people as they passed in front of his home Monday night.

The victims, who are in their late teens and early 20s, were walking along 13th Street near Arch Street around 10 p.m., according to a Little Rock Police Department report.

They told investigators that as they proceeded, 60-year-old William Paul Wooten started to argue with them about noise.

Police said the victims reported that Wooten then got a handgun from inside his home and pointed it at the cluster of people before holding it at his side.

When officers arrived, Wooten reportedly denied taking out a handgun and said he just spoke to the people.
