Vietnam War film gets preview today

A preview of the Ken Burns and Lynn Novick documentary on the Vietnam War will be shown at the Ron Robinson Theater on the Central Arkansas Library System campus in the River Market District today.

The Vietnam War documentary series will air nationwide, in 10 parts, on PBS beginning Sunday.

The library's Butler Center for Arkansas Studies, the University of Arkansas Clinton School of Public Service and AETN got together to organize today's event in Little Rock. AETN is the state's PBS network. The Butler Center was created in 1997 to provide a greater understanding and appreciation of Arkansas history, literature, art and culture.

The preview of the Vietnam War documentary will include clips from the documentary series and a discussion by the Butler Center's Arkansas Vietnam War Project, which documents Arkansas' role in the war.

Admission to the preview -- which is from 2 p.m.-4 p.m. -- is free. Reservations are available by emailing publicprograms@clintonschool.uasys.edu or by calling (501) 683-5239.
