Man who died after fight with Arkansas deputies named

Authorities have identified the man who fought with Cleburne County deputies Saturday before he was taken to a hospital and pronounced dead, according to a news release.

Deputies were sent Saturday to the 500 block of Heber Springs Road West to help medical personnel after a man was reportedly acting disorderly, the sheriff’s office said. When deputies arrived, they tried to speak with the man, identified Monday as 34-year-old Heath Allen Snowden of Heber Springs.

Snowden became combative and tried to fight the deputies, the release said. A “very intense” struggle reportedly ensued before the 34-year-old was taken into custody.

At that time, deputies said they realized Snowden was in medical distress. He was given CPR and taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The deputies involved, who were not named, were placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of an investigation.

The Arkansas State Police is investigating and will turn over information to the prosecuting attorney’s office.
