Arkansas authorities identify victim of fatal wreck as 21-year-old from Little Rock

Authorities have identified a person who died in a wreck earlier this month in Little Rock as a 21-year-old man.

Malik Lewis of Little Rock died after the car he was riding in collided with another vehicle the night of Sept. 9.

Police said Jerry Jones, 36, was driving a 2007 Chevrolet Corvette south on Madison Street around 11:40 p.m. when he tried to turn left onto Asher Avenue and the vehicle collided with a westbound 2016 Dodge Charger.

Lewis, who was a passenger in the Charger, was pronounced dead at the scene, Little Rock Police Department Lt. Steven McClanahan said.

Jones and the driver of the Charger, 21-year-old Jerry Joyner of Little Rock, were both listed in the report as being injured. A passenger in the Corvette, Sirisha Davis, 31, of Jacksonville, Fla., was also said to be hurt.

The report did not detail the extent of the injuries, but police said at the time that two people suffered serious injuries.

Conditions were reportedly clear and dry at the time of the wreck.

According to preliminary state police data, at least 348 people have died in traffic crashes on Arkansas roads this year.
