Arkansas man killed when Harley-Davidson crashes off state highway

A 53-year-old Arkansas man died after the motorcycle he was riding crashed off Arkansas 7 early Tuesday in Perry County, authorities said.

It happened about 3:20 a.m. as James M. Anderson was riding a 2002 Harley-Davidson north on the highway about 3 miles north of Hollis, according to an Arkansas State Police report.

The motorcycle reportedly veered out of control in a curve near Forest Road 210 before traveling off the pavement and hitting a road sign.

Anderson, of Hamburg, died at the scene.

Conditions at the time were said to be clear and dry.

The death is one of at least 363 in traffic crashes on Arkansas roads so far this year, according to preliminary figures.
