Arkansas man ID'd as homicide victim

A homicide victim whose remains were found near a wooded area behind a house last week has been identified as a 45-year-old Atkins man.

Pope County Sheriff Shane Jones said in a statement that the body was identified as Jeremiah Murry after being sent to the state Crime Laboratory. The cause of death wasn't immediately clear.

The body was found Saturday near the tree line behind a residence on Gold Hill Road, which runs west off Arkansas 105 south of Atkins.

Daniel Joseph Hoffman, 29, was charged in the death, authorities said, although no information on a motive has been released.

Hoffman remained in the Pope County jail Thursday with bail set at $361,000. He faces charges including first-degree murder and possession of drug paraphernalia.
